Bonded abrasives are made up of abrasive materials (combination of different abrasive grits sizes in a predetermined percentage) contained within a matrix which are pressed or moulded in to various shapes and sizes like Wheels, Stones, sticks etc . This matrix is a binder and is often a clay, a resin, a glass or a rubber. The most common abrasive used is Aluminium Oxide. Also Silicon Carbide, tungsten carbide and garnet are used.Kowa’s abrasive grains are designed to perform the best for various grinding applications and working conditions by its specialized and controlled shapes, sizes and bulk densities.
Kowa offers all their bonded abrasive grains with blocky shape and high bulk densities milled in barmac and fused in tilting furnace for better toughness. These very tough brown fused aluminum oxide abrasive with medium titania. To get these kinds of grains, we specially process the ingots, separate the magnetic material, and sieve the grains with utmost care to get a complete range of grit sizes. These are used for vitrified bonded abrasive products where the very tough, strong aluminum oxide is required.
The typical usage of Bonded Abrasives grains are for Ball grinding & ball lapping wheel, Rice polishing wheel, Gear grinding wheel, Internal grinding wheel, Crankshaft grinding wheel, Cam grinding wheel, Tool room grinding wheel, Mounted point, Razor blade, Bearing grinding wheel, Thin wheel, Roll grinding wheel, Centreless grinding wheel etc.
